* Says: It’ll be a miracle if Peter Obi wins
Apparently conscious of Peter Obi’s rising popularity in the run up to the 2023 presidential election, the presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has predicted that the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate will not go far at the polls.
The party and Obi, he said, will not go far, let alone to cause an upset as widely believed based on social media trends.
Atiku, who spoke in an interview with Arise TV on Friday, assured the Labour Party cannot eat into the traditional PDP strongholds as suggested.
“What is the performance of the Labour Party? This is a party that does not have a governor; doesn’t have members of the National Assembly; doesn’t have State Assembly members.
“Politics in this country depends on the structures you have at these various levels – at the local government level; at the state level; and at the national level. So, it is very, very difficult to expect a miracle to happen simply because Peter Obi is in the Labour Party.
“After all, they were saying through social media they have more than 1 million votes in Osun State. But how many people turned out to vote for the Labour Party?’’
Atiku pointed out 90 percent of northern voters are not on social media and won’t be assuaged by the noise from it.
