Kwara youths protest, block Ilorin-Kabba highway after bandits’ deadly attack

Kwara youths, on Wednesday, blocked the Ilorin–Kabba highway to protest a deadly bandit attack on Eruku community in Ekiti Local Government Area.

Armed attackers stormed Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Isegun, during an evening service on Tuesday, killing three persons and abducting at least 10 worshippers. A young girl who sustained a gunshot injury was reported to be in a critical condition.

So far, none of the abducted victims has been rescued, though local hunters have continued to comb the surrounding forests.

The protest caused long hours of gridlock, leaving several articulated vehicles heading toward Kogi State stranded.

Residents alleged that the attack, which lasted nearly one hour, unfolded without the intervention from security operatives

A youth leader, Peter Adesiyan, lamented that the response on the night of the attack fell short of their expectations.
