Kwara massacre: Tinubu orders deployment of army battalion

  • As Gov Abdulrazaq confirms 75 Muslims killed

Armed bandits, on Tuesday, killed 75 Muslims during an attack on Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government in Kwara North Senatorial District.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, confirmed this during a visit to the communities on Wednesday night.

He was accompanied by service chiefs and cabinet members of government.

The governor said: “75 local Muslims were massacred simply for refusing to surrender to extremists who preached a strange doctrine.”

Governor Abdulrazaq revealed that President Bola Tinubu has approved immediate deployment of an army battalion to prosecute counter offensives codenamed ‘Operation Savannah Shield’.

While commiserating with the community, he said the “incident was different from the situation where people are kidnapped for ransom, as this was a pure massacre.”

Reports said aside the killings, the armed bandits set houses ablaze in the bloody attack on the communities.
