Kano guber: Appeal Court recalls copies of judgment for correction

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has asked ‘concerned lawyers’ to return certified true copies of its judgment on the Kano State governorship appeal, for correction.

The appellate court made the request following the confusion surrounding the judgment, which has since sparked protests amid inherent contradictions.

Bashir Ahmad, former aide to ex-president Muhammadu Buhari made this known via a post on his official X handle on Wednesday.

The appellate court, last week, sacked Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), saying that  some unstamped ballot papers found their way to some ballot boxes during the election.

The court, therefore, declared Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as winner of the March 18 election.

However, the Certified True Copies of the judgement triggered confusion as it indicated that the court upheld Yusuf’s victory.

Reacting to the development, Bashir, in the post, said the Appeal Court has commenced moves to correct errors in the CTC.

Ahmad’s post read: “The Court of Appeal has asked lawyers to return the copies of the Kano governorship election ruling for correction.

“The court will correct the obvious errors in the released judgment and stand by its Friday pronouncement that Nasir Gawuna is the legitimate winner of the election”.
