A Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who was abducted on the eve of the Bayelsa State governorship election, has regained his freedom.
Some gunmen abducted the SPO on Friday, while on his way to the Registration Area Centre – 06 (Ossioma) in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The official was forcefully taken by his captors on Friday while waiting to board a boat at the Amassoma Jetty. But a few hours later, the electoral body confirmed the release of its official.
The Head of Voter Education and Publicity of INEC in Yenagoa, Mr. Wilfred Ifogah, confirmed his release to journalists.
Ifogah, who thanked those that showed concern and contributed towards the release of the INEC official, said the officer is doing fine.
