The Taraba State government has imposed curfew in some parts of the State, following fresh clashes between some local militia and nomadic pastoralists.
The recent clashes have reportedly claimed at least 29 lives.
The government imposed the curfew in Mayo Ndaga, Sardauna Local Government Area.
The government has in addition read the riot act to those fomenting trouble, that the security personnel sent to all parts of Mambilla are combat ready to deal with them, if they did not desist from criminal activities.
In the capital, Jalingo, Governor Darius Ishaku reportedly held a security meeting with the police commissioner, Mr. David Akinremi, Director of State Security Service and the heads of all security agencies in attendance.
The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on media affairs, Mr. Bala Dan Abu, confirmed the meeting, but failed to issue any statement regarding the outcome.
The Police Public Relation Officer Taraba State command, ASP David MiSal, was yet to state the official position of the Force in whole matter.
Crisis erupted in the area last Wednesday following attacks on Fulani communities in Yarimaru area by suspected militia which later spread to other parts of the Mambilla plateau.
The violence spread to parts of Mayo Ndaga, Yarimaru, Kakara and Sherif, including communities on the Nigeria-Cameroun border.
Chairman of the local government, Mr. Godwin Sol, confirmed the recovery of 29 corpses, while search for other missing persons continues.
