In response to the growing concerns on security along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed police officers and security equipment to the highway.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this through a statement on Thursday.
Adejobi noted that the IGP, while directing the DIG Operations, DIG Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, on strict supervision of the police officers detailed for operations on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway, reiterated that the proactive step aims to reassure citizens and travelers of their safety, “as the increased presence of security forces in the region will act as a deterrent to criminal activities.”
Egbetokun, while emphasising the collaboration between various security agencies and concerned communities in the region, urged the public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and cooperate with security operatives, saying the collective effort is crucial in maintaining the security and well-being of all residents and travelers.
The IGP also assured Nigerians that the strengthened security measures were part of an ongoing commitment to ensuring a secure and peaceful environment.
Reports say that gunmen recently kidnapped some travelers along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.
