Imo Assembly suspends 4 lawmakers over attempt to impeach Speaker

The Imo State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, suspended four lawmakers over an alleged attempt to remove the Speaker, Chike Olemgbe.

Those suspended include the lawmakers representing Okigwe State constituency, Chidebere Ogbunikpa; Ahiazu State constituency, Sam Otuibe; Ezinihitte Mbaise State Constituency, Henry Agbasonu; and Oru West State Constituency, Dominic Ezrioha.

On the reason for the suspension, a source said: “For hatching and scheming an impeachment plan and inciting members to impeach the speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly, it was the reason they were suspended.

“Nobody moved the motion for their suspension it came as an announcement from the Speaker of the State House of Assembly,” the source added.
