Nigerian-American actress, Yvonne Orji, has revealed that she is still a virgin at the age of 39.
The actress appeared on an episode of Chelsea Handler’s podcast ‘Dear Chelsea’ and was asked whether she was still a virgin, to which she answered ‘yes’.
Yvonne, 39, jokingly asked listeners to pray for her future partner because the wait has left her with a great deal of “pent-up energy.”
“Let me tell you right now…pray for him, whoever he is; ya’ll need to pray for him because there’s a lot of pent-up energy up in here,” she said.
The actress has been open about her decision to remain a virgin. She has spoken about it in several interviews.
In 2017, she said her decision to remain so was based on her religious beliefs, and her own personal values.
On her reason for venturing into Hollywood, Yvonne said she had a conversation with God about the path He would want her to follow while in the movie industry.
She said: “Before any of (the fame) happened, I sat down with myself and with God and thought, when I make it, how do you want me to represent you while I’m here?”
She added that it later dawned on her that her purpose for going into acting was to “make God proud”.
Orji is best known for her role as Molly Carter in the Home Box Office (HBO) produced series, ‘Insecure’.
In 2020, her parents celebrated her first-ever Emmy nomination for the ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series’ category.
