Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has vowed to demolish buildings used for camping kidnap victims or used as transit point for the movement of kidnap victims in the State.
Ikpeazu, who made this known while featuring in a radio programme on Wednesday, said the decision is in accordance with the law of the State.
He tweeted on Wednesday: “Earlier today, while featuring in a radio programme on Vision Africa 104.1FM Umuahia, I announced that from Monday, February 15, in accordance with the Laws of Abia State, Government will pull down any building used to keep kidnap victims or used as transit point for the movement of kidnap victims.
“We’ll also pull down buildings where arms, ammunition or illicit drugs are found.
“These decisions among others have become necessary as part of measures being put in place to keep Abia safe from kidnappers and perpetrators of other violent crimes.”
