* Directs immediate payment of accumulated leave allowances
In the twilight of his eight years administration, and just days to the March 18 governorship election, Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has approved the promotion of civil servants in the State.
The governor also directed that the contentious Annual Leave Allowances for the workers of the State civil service be paid within seven days.
Ikpeazu gave the directives while speaking with the civil servants at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia on Thursday.
In return, Ikpeazu asked the workers to reciprocate the government gesture by voting massively for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Okey Ahiwe.
He gave the assurance that Ahiwe would sustain his achievements and implement the welfare packages of the civil servants as well as perform better than him.
According to the governor, the March 18 poll is as important as the lives of the people of Abia hence it should be taken seriously.
He said that if any worker votes for the wrong person, he or she will have gambled with their jobs and the future of their families.
