IGP okays process for promotion of Inspectors, other officers

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba-Alkali has approved the commencement of the process that will lead to the promotion of “deserving” officers within the Inspectorate cadre of the Force.

To give effect to the approval, the Force has set up the Departmental Selection Board (DSB) for the screening and selection of deserving members of the Inspectorate cadre, who would in turn be recommended to the Police Service Commission for promotion to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II).

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this through a statement on Thursday.

Adejobi said that the DIG Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) has simultaneously been charged with mandating the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to compile a list of members of the rank and file who are due and deserving of elevation to their next ranks.

According to him, the IGP noted that regular and timely elevation of deserving officers to their next ranks would boost the morale of the personnel.

He continued that the promotion exercise will charge the officers to be exemplary and exhibit professionalism in order to sustain the manpower development drive of the NPF.
