Herbalist rips own stomach while testing fabled bulletproof charm

Ismail Usman, a local herbalist known for his unconventional ways has fatally injured himself while testing the efficacy of his touted bulletproof charm.

The incident occurred in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the fatal incident on Saturday.

She said the incident occurred at Kuchibuyi Village on November 23, when the herbalist shot himself in the stomach to test his bulletproof charms.

The police image maker said upon receipt of a distress call from one Shandam Michael, officers from the Byazhin Division responded swiftly only to find Usman in critical condition.

She said the herbalist was quickly transported to Kubwa General Hospital for emergency treatment and later transferred to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital for further care.

“In the aftermath, police conducted a thorough search of Usman’s home, recovering the homemade gun and an array of charms used in his reckless experiment,” Adeh said.

She revealed that investigations are ongoing, adding that Usman is expected to face charges for unlawful possession of firearms and attempted suicide under Section 231 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.

The stressed the importance of community vigilance. “It’s crucial for residents to look out for one another and report any suspicious activities.”
