A helicopter carrying vice-president Yemi Osinbajo and his entourage crash landed in Kabba, Kogi state.
Multiple reports said Osinbajo and all the people on board were safe.
The Vice President who is in the town for his next-level engagements with the people, was undaunted by the accident.
In a video posted on WhatsApp by Johannes Tobi, the VP was seen on phone giving assurances to his caller, that ‘everything’ is OK. He was seen with Senator Smart Adeyemi, the APC Senatorial candidate for Kogi West.
A statement by Osinbajo’s media aide Laolu Akande, said:
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) has arrived Kabba, Kogi State today. His Chopper had crash-landed after a landing incident, but everyone is safe.
Prof. Osinbajo now in Kabba after the incident and continuing his engagements in the State, engaging the people on the Next Level plan of the Buhari administration.
While speaking on the incident, Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, joined other Nigerians in thanking God for the life of the Vice President.
In a post on his official Twitter page, Saraki wrote: “I join all Nigerians in thanking Almighty God for sparing the life of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who survived a helicopter crash over Kabba, Kogi State today.”
Also reacting, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara called on government to ensure diligent checks on government owned aircraft in order to avoid such occurrence in the future.
On his Twitter page, he wrote: “I join His Excellency, Prof Yemi Osinbajo in thanking the Almighty God for saving him and his team from any fatality in the unfortunate incident in Kogi State.
“I urge relevant authorities to conduct due diligence checks on all govt owned aircraft to prevent a re-occurrence.”
