Hardship as filling stations suspend operations in Rivers

Residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, may be in for a period of hardship following the shutting of their business premises in protest against alleged high-handedness by the government.

Specifically, they are shutting down to register their protest against the arrest of some tanker drivers and seizure of their trucks.

Most of the filling stations were said to have stopped dispensing fuel to motorists and other consumers since midnight on Tuesday after another tanker was reportedly seized by the State Task Force on illegal parking.

At the time of filing this report, Tonnino Filling Station, Jet and Royal Dynasty on Ada George Road have already been shut down.

Also, Eterna filling station located along Peter Odili Road was also shut down.
