Gov Bello accuses media of fabricating allegations of electoral violence in Kogi

Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has accused the media of fabricating allegations of electoral violence during the November11 governorship election, claiming that the State has seen peaceful and fair elections under his administration.

Bello, who spoke after casting his vote at his Agassa Uvette polling unit in Okene, described the violence claims as a “media creation” and challenged those making allegations of violence to “go into history, go into records, and compare my regime and that of the previous ones.”

“You will discover that the regime of Governor Yahaya Bello’s conduct of elections has been the most free, fair, credible, and violence-free elections. So the issue of violence in our election in Kogi State is a media creation,” Bello stated.

“It’s a figment of the imagination of all those who do not want good things to happen here in Kogi State.”

The governor, however, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their professionalism and commitment to ensuring a peaceful exercise.

He also praised the security agencies for conducting themselves professionally and for allowing citizens to exercise their franchises freely, noting that there have been no hitches or rancour and that the people of Kogi are united and happy with the exercise.
