African Voices, the 30-minute programme of the Cable News Network (CNN), this week profiles two Mozambicans – Miguel Gonçalves -a wildlife conservationist and Bemugi Sochaka, who is projecting his country through tourism.
The programme sponsored by telecommunications giant, Globacom, will feature Gonçalves who has been described as ‘nature warrior’ by local press and is the Park Warden of Maputo Special Reserve (MSR) and Ponta do Ouro Partial Marine Reserve (PPMR) – the Mozambique components of the Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation and Resource Area.
Gonçalves received the 2018 African Ranger Award – a prestigious accolade presented by Paradise Foundation International and Alibaba Foundation and is committed to the preservation of wildlife in his country.
On his own part, Sochaka is a star tourist who is using his skills to uplift the Santa Maria community, also in Mozambique, through sustainable tourism development. Through his passion for tourism, he has successfully projected the country by serving as guide to nature enthusiasts round major tourism spots in Mozambique.
African Voices Changemakers will be on CNN Channel 401 on Saturday at 9.30am with repeats on Sunday at 4.30am, 7.30am, 12.30pm, 7.30pm and on Monday at 4.00am. A 15-minute two-part repeat will be broadcast on Tuesday and Wednesday at 6.45pm.
