Glo-sponsored African Voices profiles wildlife conservationist, tourism star

African Voices, the 30-minute programme of the Cable News Network (CNN), this week pro­files two Mozambicans – Miguel Gonçalves -a wildlife conserva­tionist and Bemugi Sochaka, who is projecting his country through tourism.

The programme sponsored by telecommunica­tions giant, Globacom, will fea­ture Gonçalves who has been described as ‘nature warrior’ by local press and is the Park Warden of Maputo Special Re­serve (MSR) and Ponta do Ouro Partial Marine Reserve (PPMR) – the Mozambique components of the Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation and Resource Area.

Gonçalves received the 2018 African Ranger Award – a pres­tigious accolade presented by Paradise Foundation Interna­tional and Alibaba Foundation and is committed to the preser­vation of wildlife in his country.

On his own part, Sochaka is a star tourist who is using his skills to uplift the Santa Maria community, also in Mo­zambique, through sustainable tourism development. Through his passion for tourism, he has successfully projected the coun­try by serving as guide to nature enthusiasts round major tour­ism spots in Mozambique.

African Voices Changemak­ers will be on CNN Channel 401 on Saturday at 9.30am with repeats on Sunday at 4.30am, 7.30am, 12.30pm, 7.30pm and on Monday at 4.00am. A 15-minute two-part repeat will be broadcast on Tuesday and Wednesday at 6.45pm.
