The former political gladiators in Rivers State may have taken practical steps to sheath theirs words in the interest of the residents.
The signs were seen on Saturday when suspended Governor Sim Fubara showed up at the burial ceremony of Elder Temple Omezurike Onuoha, an uncle of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike’s.
Also at the burial event, which held at Rumuepirikom, Rivers State, was Martin Amaewhule, the suspended Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and an ally of Wike.
A post accompanying several photos shared on Facebook by Wike’s media aide Lere Olayinka, said: ” Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, alongside the Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule at the burial of Wike’s Uncle in Rumuepirikom, Rivers State today.”
The burial event, seemingly marked a significant moment in the state’s politics as it came a few days after the reconciliation meeting brokered by President Bola Tinubu.
After the meeting reconciliation meeting on Thursday night, Wike had expressed optimism about the future of Rivers State.
He said: “We have all agreed to work together with the governor, and the governor also agreed to work together with all of us. We are members of the same political family.”
