*As Obi pays sympathy visit to Gov Diri
The rampaging flood in the country has sacked former president Goodluck Jonathan from his Otuoke home in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Governor Duoye Diri, during a visit to Otuoke on Friday, decried the level of destruction caused by what he described as an “attack by the natural disaster” on the livelihood of Bayelsans.
Diri noted that Otuoke, the host community to the Federal University in the State, has been submerged and most of the locals including Jonathan, are displaced.
The governor, however, assured the people of the commitment of his government provide relief materials and medical assistance to victims of the flood.
While empathizing with Jonathan, who he said is now also internally displaced as a result of the flood, the governor also visited the former president’s mother, Eunice Jonathan.

Diri, however, solicited the help of well-meaning Bayelsans, corporate organisations and the Federal government to enable the State overcome the present situation.
Flood has overtaken most part of the country in recent weeks due to change in climatic conditions and opening up of dams in neighbouring countries.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, on Saturday, visited Governor Duoye Diri in Yengoa, to sympathise with victims of the floods in the State.

The former governor of Anambra State had earlier on Thursday visited flood-ravaged communities in Benue State in Benue State to commiserate with victims,
He tasked the Federal government to be proactive in mitigating the effects of devastating floods across the country.
Obi has also urged on his counterparts in other parties to suspend their campaigns and join him to help victims of floods across states of the federation.
Floods have hit parts of Nigeria in the last two months with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) saying that about 2.5 million persons were affected and over 603 persons killed by the flooding caused by torrential rainfall of late.
