There was fire outbreak at the Ecobank Transnational Inc (Ecobank) head office on Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday morning. It reportedly started around 9:00am.
The fire is believed to have started from a diesel tanker which was discharging its content into the bank’s generator.
As at the time of filing this report, witnesses said the fire was yet to be put out.
Twenty-four hours earlier, fire had gutted the Access Bank branch situated inside Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State.
The fire destroyed some offices and the section of the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of the bank.
It was also gathered that an undisclosed amount of money in the ATMs was equally destroyed in the inferno.
The Head of Media and Public Relations Unit of the institution, Sola Imoru, assured that the fire did not have any impact on the school and the university community.
Imoru said: “The fire happened in the morning at the bank area on the campus, when nobody was around but our staff and students are safe; it has no impact on the campus.”
An eyewitness, however, said men of the fire services acted quickly and put out the fire.
