FG suspends Christians’ pilgrimage to Israel over conflict with Iran

The Federal government has halted all forms of travels to Israel for religious reasons, to avoid being caught in the crossfire of missiles currently being exchange by Iran and the country, which began since last week.

The measure was announced through a statement by Stephen Adegbite, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC).

Adegbite stated that there would be no further pilgrimage to Israel until further notice

Signed by Celestine Toruka, spokesman of the commission, Adegbite refuted claims that Nigerian pilgrims are currently in Israel for pilgrimage activities, stating that no Nigerian Christian pilgrims is in that country, as the Commission’s 2024 main pilgrimage exercise to Israel and Jordan concluded in March 2025.

He said: “Given the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran, which escalated on June 13, no Christian pilgrimage will occur in Israel until the crisis is resolved. The Commission is closely monitoring the situation.”
