Barely days after President Muhammadu Buhari gave a marching order to security forces to fish out sponsors of insurgency in the country, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a big catch.
According to a presidential media aide, Lauretta Onichie, the NDLEA on Thursday, announced that it arrested a hard drug provider for Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria. The name of the 35-year-old suspect, who happens to be a Chadian national, is Adama Uomar, who procures narcotics for the insurgents in Taraba State.
Onochie’s tweet read: “The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, @ndlea_nigeria, has arrested a member of the Boko Haram value chain, 35-year-old Chadian, Adama Uomar Issa who procures narcotics for Boko Haram insurgents in Taraba State.
“He was caught in possession of assorted hard drugs.”
Earlier, the government had disclosed that security agents arrested some Nigerians funding Boko Haram terrorists.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, made this known on Tuesday.
Shehu had said that Nigeria would be shocked when details of the investigation on how the sums of money were transferred to the group would be fully disclosed.
He said the sponsors include some bureau de change operators with contacts abroad.
Malam Shehu also revealed that places of worship are used to harbour killers of security agents in the country, assuring that heads of intelligence agencies are working on it.
The presidential aide said: “It is shocking that places of worship and farmland are places where killers of policemen, naval officers and military are being harboured. This discovery will shock you. But this is going on all over the country.”
