The Federal government disclosed on Wednesday that it has granted operating licences to 38 entrepreneurs to establish modular refineries with daily capacities from 50,000 to 250,000 barrels. They are to be sited in the Niger Delta region.
The Senior Technical Adviser to the Minister of Petroleum Resources in charge of Refining and Downstream Infrastructure, Mr. Rabiu Suleiman, disclosed this during a facilities inspection visit to OPAC Refinery in Kwale, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.
Suleiman also noted that 10 of the 38 entrepreneurs have secured their “permit to construct.” Suleiman explained that the visit was to enable them evaluate the extent of construction work, and also to support the investor.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President, Mr. Edobor Iyamu, also pledged the Federal government’s commitment towards creating an enabling environment for modular refineries businesses to thrive in Nigeria.
