The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has declared an Air Peace passenger – Oghenemini Oyibo Great – persona non-grata for allegedly forcing the boarding gate door open at Module D of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The passenger was also alleged to have damaged the gate lock as well, arising from anger, following his delayed flight to Benin.
The Acting General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN, Mrs. Faithful A. Hope-Ivbaze, disclosed this through an official statement on Sunday.
In the statement titled “Forceful Damage To The Boarding Gate Door At Module D, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport By Aggrieved Air Peace Passenger To Benin”, Hope-Ivbaze declared that the said passenger will no longer be allowed to fly out or into Abuja airport.
She said: “At about 20:10hrs of March 24, 2023, an aggrieved passenger on delayed Air Peace flight to Benin forced the boarding gate door and damaged the lock. No major injury was sustained by the passengers and staff.”
According to FAAN spokesperson, the suspect was arrested by a joint team of security personnel and brought to Crime Intelligence and Investigation Unit (CIIU) office of the Aviation Security.
“He was interrogated and statement was taken from him. The airport staff at the boarding gate witnessed the incident.
The suspect, Oghenemini Oyibo Great, with seat number 10c Air Peace Flight P47172 was transferred to the Airport Police Command on transfer form number 0387470 and was received by Inspector Benson with force identification number 17289. The airport wishes to declare him persona non-grata. He will no longer be allowed to fly out or into Abuja airport,” FAAN added.
