#EndBadGovernance: Organizers vow to resume protest Oct 1 if…

Organisers have vowed that the nationwide hunger protests of August 1-10 would be repeated on October 1 if the government fails to make changes.

Their requests, among others, include:

*Reversal of fuel subsidy removal

* Reversal of newly introduced and higher electricity tariff

* Reducing the cost of running the government.

The Action Alliance Congress (AAC) presidential candidate and a key organiser, Omoyele Sowore, made the announcement in an interview on News Central TV.

According to him, ongoing meetings between organisers have been focused on strategising the next phase of the protests.

“This protest will resume at the beginning of October and might even start earlier depending on situational variables,” he said.

The protests are premised on getting government to several policies causing unusual hardship.
