Eid-el-fitr: Police assure Lagos residents of security

The Police Command in Lagos State has assured the residents of a crime-free Eid-el-fitr celebration.

The spokesperson of the command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, gave the assurance in a statement on Sunday in Lagos.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, on behalf of officers and men of the command, extends warm greetings and best wishes to all Muslim faithful in the state on the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr.

“As Muslim faithful mark the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, the command recognises the values of peace, unity, and self-discipline that this sacred period embodies.

“The commissioner urges all residents to continue upholding these virtues beyond the Ramadan period and to foster harmony, love, and respect among one another.

“The command remains committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure Lagos throughout the celebrations,” the spokesperson said.

Hundeyin said the commissioner encouraged Muslim faithfuls and their well-wishers to go out and celebrate without fear or apprehension as adequate security measures had been put in place across the state to guarantee safety of residents and visitors.

“Residents are encouraged to celebrate responsibly and to cooperate with law enforcement officers to maintain order.

“The Command also urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or security concerns to the nearest police station or through our emergency lines: 08063299264 and 08065154338.”
