* Impounds her Range Rover vehicle, iPhone mobile devices
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosed Friday that its Lagos Zonal Command has taken over the probe of an actress and cosmetologist, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, for allegedly abusing the newNnaira notes.
The anti-graft agency said items recovered from Omoseyin at the point of arrest included a Range Rover vehicle and iPhone mobile devices.
Omoseyin, 31, was arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on February 1, 2023 along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, following intelligence report.
She was accused of tampering with the redesigned naira notes, an offence contrary to Section 21 (5) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007.
Her arrest followed a video of her spraying and stepping on the redesigned naira notes at a party, which trended online.
In the viral video, she was also seen flaunting wads of the new Naira notes.
According to a statement by the EFCC’s Head, Media & Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, “the suspect was subsequently handed over to the EFCC on Thursday, February 2, 2023 for further investigations.”
Uwujaren said she would be charged to court “once investigations have been concluded.”
