Edo APC suspends Gov Obaseki, Oshiomhole embattled as national chairman

Another faction of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has suspended the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shuaibu.

Leaders of APC in the state also suspended the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie for alleged anti-party activities.

Their suspension was disclosed by a chieftain of the party, Mr. Patrick Ikhariale while briefing journalists in Benin City, Vanguard reports.

The party had earlier suspended its National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole..

The State chairman, Anselm Ojezua, who made this known in a statement on Tuesday night, said Oshiomhole‘s suspension followed the vote of no confidence passed on him by the chairmen of the APC in the 18 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.

Oshiomhole and his successor Obaseki, have literally been at each other’s throat for some time now.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the party’s governors’ forum called for the resignation of Adams Oshiomhole as the party’s National Chairman.

Salihu Lukman, the Director-General of the APC’s Progressive Governors Forum, made the call on Wednesday.

He asked Oshiomhole to urgently convene a National Executive Council meeting of the party or to leave office.

“It is either Oshiomhole respect the provision of the party constitution and convene superior organ meeting to deliberate on all our challenges, or he should just accept his inability to manage the party and simply resign,” Lukman said in a statement on Wednesday.

His call comes a day after the APC in Edo announced the controversial suspension of Oshiomhole.
