The Director-General National Institute for Sports (NIS), Professor Olawale Moronkola, has described Catherine Ewa (OLY), a Director and Head of Coaching Department in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Akwa Ibom State, as a shining light of Nigerian sports.
He made this assertion on the heels of Ewa’s graduation from an Olympic solidarity (IOC) sponsored programme. It was organised in conjunction with the International Judo Federation (IJF), under the acronym WISH (Women in Sports High performance pathway).
The twenty-two month training, which consisted of a one-week residential training in the University of Hertfordshire in UK, had on an online training as well.
The training is in line with the Olympic values of gender equality in sports and a great opportunity in creating a higher platform for female Coaches all over the world, training them to become Olympics coaches.
Coach Ekuta was recommended to represent Africa.
