Delta govt urges eligible youths to apply for army recruitment

The Delta State Government has appealed to eligible male and female young graduates of the State to apply for the Nigerian Army Direct Short Service recruitment, known as SSC/DSSC combatant Course 48/2025.

Records have shown that the youths are usually nonchalant about enrolment into the Nigerian Armed Forces as the State hardly fills its quota during recruitments.

The Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, disclosed that application is ongoing and would close on September 15, 2024.

He added that interested applicants should log on to the Nigerian Army website; www.recruitmrnt.army.mil.ng to complete free online application and attach relevant documents/passport photos.

He noted that male and female applicants must be between ages 23 and 27 years by January 2025, a Nigerian as defined by the Constitution of Nigeria; must hold not less than Second Class Lower Division degree in Arts, Sciences or Humanities from accredited institutions of higher learning.

Applicants, he added, must also be physically, mentally and medically fit according to Nigerian Army standards, and without any criminal records and not convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Oghenesivbe further stated that application is open to both civilians and serving military personnel, and on completion of training and duly commissioned, the officers shall serve in the Artillery, Engineering, Signals and Intelligence Corps of the Nigerian Army.

He pointed out that applicants must be recommended and attested by at least two recognized referees, who are either Local Government Council Chairman/Secretary, or an officer of the Armed Forces not below the rank of a Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent  – Assistant Commissioner of Police, who must hail from the applicant’s state of origin.

He said the Nigerian Army SSC/DSSC recruitment is in tandem with the job and wealth creation programmes of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, as encapsulated in his MORE agenda.
