Two persons have been confirmed dead while six others were arrested following the supremacy battle between two cult groups in the Ojota area of Lagos State.
Sources claimed that three members of the feuding cult gangs
were killed in the clashes.
However, spokesperson of Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the death of two persons, said six others were arrested in connection with the incident.
He noted that peace has since been restored, adding that more police operatives have been deployed in the area.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), one person was killed at each of two road intersections in the area, while a third was killed at a foodstuff shop.
The clashes began on Sunday and continued through Monday and Tuesday resulting in shooting to death of the victims.
Most shop owners in the area, particularly those selling industrial chemicals, did not open their shops since Monday for fear of being cut in the cross fire.
Other traders in the area were seen discussing the clashes in groups, just as parents scuttled there to take their schoolchildren home,


Police patrol vans were seen combing the area on Tuesday
A trader, Mr. Chinedu Agwu, lamented that cult crises are returning to Ojota, and called on the police to raid cultists enclaves located in all corners of the area.
A food seller, Mrs. Aminat Adewale, complained that Tuesday’s clash in particular prevented custormers from buy her prepared food.
