The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Olatunji Disu, has clarified the presence of police officers at the State House of Assembly quarters in Port Harcourt.
Addressing speculations about the presence of police at the Assembly Quarters, Disu said the police are solely there to prevent any breach of law and order.
He was reacting to claims that officers from his command have taken over the Assembly quarters, amid the current leadership tussle in the State Legislature.
Regarding the interim court order restraining the pro-Wike lawmakers from parading themselves as legislators, Disu said the command has yet to receive official notification from the court.
Contrary to reports of heavy police presence at the Assembly quarters, the CP said only four patrol vehicles were posted there.
