COVID-19: Lagos seals 11 event centres, nightclubs

Lagos State government has shut 11 facilities, including event centres, lounge and nightclubs among others for contravening COVID-19 order and directives.

The Director-General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, said on Sunday that the affected event centres had informed the agency of their intention to organise parties and events, but the number of people met by officials of the agency exceeded what they got approval for.

“Those facilities were sealed for non-compliance with COVID-19 regulations of the federal and state government,” Mojola said.

Mojola, who was represented at the sealing by the Events Safety Administrator of the agency, Dr Wale Adeboje, listed the affected facilities as UBC Club, VGC; Sapearz Lounge, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi; Bravo Event Centre, Ogba; Ronite Event Centre, Iju Road, Agege; All Season Event Centre, Ipaja; and  Olaide Adeoluwa Memorial Hall.

Others are Carabana Lounge and Bar, Ajao Estate, Isolo; DNA, Victoria Island; Twist Lounge, Kofo Abayomi, VIctoria Island; Carlsbad Lounge, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja and Darts Event Centre, Grammar School, Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos.

He added that the Commission would continue to monitor and enforce compliance across the State.
