An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has found a hotelier, Rahmon Adedoyin, guilty of conspiracy in the murder of a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke.
The court presided over by Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Oyebola Ojo, while delivering his judgment on Tuesday, said circumstantial evidence tendered against Adedoyin and two of his staff, showed they were responsible for Adegoke’s murder.
The judge, therefore, sentenced Adedoyin, owner of Hilton Hotel Ile-Ile, to death by hanging.
However, four members of staff prosecuted alongside Adedoyin were discharged and acquitted of the charges pressed against them.
Adegoke died mysteriously at Hilton Hotels, Ile-Ife, in November 2021, and his body was disposed of by the hotel’s staff
Dr Adedoyin alongside six of his staff namely, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola, who were arrested, were charged on 18 counts of conspiracy, murder, felony, indecent interference of the corpse, alteration, and cancellation of receipt and oath-taking to prevent justice.
