A Kano State High Court has issued a bench warrant against Barr. M. A. Lawal, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, for failing to appear before it.
Lawal, alongside Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC National Chairman and former Kano State Governor, is facing a four-count charge of criminal misappropriation and breach of trust involving N240 million.
At Monday’s hearing, the prosecution informed the court that Ganduje had not been served despite a previous court order, while Lawal had been served but was absent.
In response, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu issued a bench warrant for Lawal and adjourned the case to May 6 for arraignment.
Separately, the court also issued a bench warrant for Jibrilla Muhammad, former Managing Director of Kano State Investment and Properties Limited (KSIP), for failing to appear in a case involving alleged misappropriation of N212.4 million.
His co-defendant, Dauda Sheshe, was not served. Their case was adjourned to April 29.
Both cases involve allegations of fraudulent fund diversion for personal use while serving in public office.
