Businessman and socialite, Obinna Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana, has lost occupation of Plot 81, Ademola Adetokumbo Crescent, Wuse 11, Abuja, the property housing his popular Cubana Lounge.
Members of staff of the popular Lounge were seen packing their properties from the building on Friday. Also, a document indicating the enforcement order was prominently pasted on the building.
The eviction of the lounge from the property followed the enforcement of the judgment that confirmed Rev. Chidiebere Amakaeze as the landlord of the building.
A High Court of Federal Capital Territory sitting in Gwagwalada had in a judgment on July 3, 2025 granted the right of possession of the property to Rev. Amakeze in a suit filed against SEMC-Investment Ltd. and Onwuzulike Collins.
This was after the court decided that Rev. Amakaeze duly purchased the property from one Onwuzulike Collins at an agreed sum of N2 billion with Power of Attorney and Deed of Assignment, which transferred ownership to him duly executed with effect from 1 May, 2024.
The Court noted that despite the execution and transfer, the claimants have not been able to take possession of the property.
The Court presided over by Justice J.A Aina, therefore, granted right of the claimants to possession and use of the property at Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja, having duly purchased the property.
The Court also ordered the defendants to immediately give vacant possession of the property at Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja to the claimants.
It also ordered the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police, Abuja, FCT and other security agencies to assist the claimants in lawfully taking possession, occupation and use of the property at Plot 81, Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja, as the ownership belongs to them.
The court also awarded N10 million against the defendants as cost of prosecuting the case.
The defendants in their counter affidavit did not contest ownership of the property.
The solicitors to Rev. Amakaeze, led by Prince Ben S. Ikani Esq and E. I. Nwafor Esq of Citadel of Justice of Law Firm, Abuja had before the enforcement of the order on Friday repeatedly asked Cubana to vacate the property.
