Corrupt govs, other politicians planning to flee Nigeria before May 29, EFCC alleges

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has alleged that some governors and politicians accused of corruption have perfected plans to flee the country ahead of the May 29 inauguration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Spokesperson for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, who disclosed this through a statement on Friday night, said the EFCC is currently in collaboration with its foreign partners to frustrate the plans of the said governors and politicians.

The commission vowed that all political actors involved in corruption while in public office must be brought to justice.

The statement read partly: “Again, the Commission wishes to alert the public about plans by some of the alleged corrupt politically exposed persons to flee the country ahead of May 29.

“The Commission is working in close collaboration with its international partners to frustrate these escape plans and bring those involved to justice.”
