The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revealed details and position of the security features in the newly redesigned Naira notes following the circulation of fake copies of the denominations in the country.
Cloned copies of the newly redesigned N1,000 note were reportedly discovered a few days after release by the CBN.
A bank agent, in a viral video, disclosed that a customer performed a bank transaction through his wife’s Point of Sale (PoS) using a fake copy of the redesigned N1,000 note.
The man further explained the difference between the fake and original redesigned N1,000 note.
However, the apex bank, on Tuesday, released details and position of the security features in the new naira notes.

CBN recently redesigned three naira notes out of the existing eight banknotes.
These are the N200, N500, and N1,000 denominations which commercial banks commenced dispensing to customers last Thursday, December 15, 2022.
There were several reports that the banks in the country received small quantities of the newly redesigned naira notes last Thursday as customers were paid a few notes and with the old ones over the counter while Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) dispensed old banknotes.
Several commercial banks had complained that they ran out of the small quantities of the new banknotes allocated to them from their head offices.
