As part of its social responsibility, St Mathew Catholic Church, Amukoko, Lagos, plans to launch a forum for advocacy meant to enlighten the members of their immediate community on their fundamental rights and how  it can build  a better society.

This move will engender peaceful co-existence among members of the community and create the right atmosphere for development in both human capacity and infrastructure.

The initiative is being launched through the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), an arm of the Catholic Church structured to harness the affairs and development of the society.

This forum will look at various ways of promoting peace, and enhancing relationship among individuals in the society.

According to a statement by the Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Emmanuel S. likoko- SPS,  Michael Elesoanya –  Chairman Organizing Committee, and King Justin Nwanze – JDPC Coordinator, the theme of the event is “Know your right, defend your right and pursue your right’’. The statement reads: “For our parish, in conjunction with JDPC, our major exercise this year is to create a forum for advocacy in enlightening members of the public about their fundamental human right. In addition, we want to promote peace and justice for human development using existing networks and also create new ones in our target community in Apapa Deanery through advocacy, mobilization, empowerment and capacity building.”

This summit holds on August 25 2018, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Amukoko, Lagos, by 10am. St Mathew’s Catholic Church is under Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos.
