The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has elected the Archbishop of Kaduna Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Man’oso Ndagoso, as its new president.
Ndasogo succeeds the Catholic Bishop of Owerri, Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, following the expiration of his four-year tenure, which began on March 9, 2022.
At the ongoing first plenary holding at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, (CSN) Abuja, the bishops elected other new officers to pilot the affairs of the conference, including the Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, who emerged as the Vice President; the Bishop of Abeokuta, Most Rev. Peter Odetoyinbo, as Secretary; the Bishop of Abakaliki, Most Rev. Peter Chukwu as the Assistant Secretary.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary General of the Secretariat, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Ayanleke Banjo, the newly elected officers will be officially presented at the closing ceremony of the plenary.
