Catholic Bishop gifts food items, cash to less privileged in Niger, Kebbi

The Bishop of Kontagora (Catholic Diocese), Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has donated cash gift and assorted food items to the less privileged parishioners in Niger and neighbouring Kebbi State.
 
The food items, which were simultaneously shared to the 1, 435 beneficiaries in the two states includes; rice, maize, noodles, biscuits, seasonings and different brands of beverages is parts of the Catholic Bishop’s gift of love and celebration of the Christmas and new Year.
Bishop Yohanna, who is the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) chairman for Niger State, said the event is his own way of celebrating the Yuletide annually, and specifically for widows, widowers, orphans and those who cannot afford at least a meal per day.
He said: “This is my own way of celebrating the Christmas and the New Year, and this is primarily geared towards improving the living conditions of the widows, the orphans, the poor and the less privileged ones.
“The last time we were able to reach out to a little above 1, 000 beneficiaries. So far, for this time around we are reaching out to 1, 435 beneficiaries in Kontagora Diocese – both parishes in Niger and Kebbi states.”

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Godiya Adamu, expressed appreciation to the CAN Chairman for remembering them especially during the present harsh economic situation, which she said has been tough for average families.
 
Godiya said she and her family members have been surviving the hard times through the mercy of God.

 “The gesture of remembering poor woman like me can only be from God,” she added.
