Buhari’s ex-minister Hadi Sirika lands in DSS custody over Nigeria Air ‘scam’

A former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has reportedly landed in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) over the recent unveiling of Nigeria Air.

Sirika reportedly arrived at the DSS headquarters, Abuja, on Thursday in a Range Rover SUV, for questioning.

He was said to have been grilled for several hours by DSS interrogators.

The questioning was after the acting Managing Director of Nigeria Air, Captain Dapo Olumide, admitted that the plane that was unveiled as Nigeria Air was a chartered aircraft from the fleet of Ethiopian Airlines.

Olumide had told the Senate Committee on Aviation that the aircraft was used to unveil the Nigeria Air logo, confirming however that it is not yet operational.

The “launch” of Nigeria Air was widely criticised as a scam.

The plane that was unveiled was confirmed to be over 10 years old, and had previously been operated by Ethiopian Airlines and Malawi Airlines.
