The Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has claimed that former President Muhammadu Buhari was never in charge of his government.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) senator said the former President played a lesser supervisory role than what President Bola Tinubu is currently doing.
Buhari was elected President of Nigeria in 2015 and he led for eight years, handing over to his party man Tinubu in 2023.
During the period of Buhari’s eight years, especially in his second tenure, several Nigerians shared the opinion that he was “unavailable”.
Ndume, who appeared on Friday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today, insisted that some ‘kleptocrats’ were in charge of the immediate past administration.

“The President here is in charge. He takes charge, unlike our former President. That President will just give you an assignment; he will not look over you,” Ndume said.
“That is where the problem is and he (Buhari) knows that. That was the mistake President Buhari made.
“He ended up confessing these days that he had more ‘kleptocrats’ in his government than people with interest of the country at heart.”
