President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Olusegun Obasanjo met on Sunday for the first time since the latter released his public statement criticizing the former over his poor leadership and advising him not to seek a second term in office come 2019.
The leaders attended the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
It was learnt that the two leaders who are meeting for the first time after former President Obasanjo blasted President Buhari in a 13-page statement, shook hands and talked for about two minutes, while the Foreign Affairs Minster, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama watched admirably.
Obasanjo had declared that Buhari is “weak” and should not contest in the 2019 election.
According to reports, former head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, later joined Buhari and Obasanjo for a snapshot.
President Buhari was awarded the African Union’s Anti-Corruption Year Champion at the on going summit.
