A fresh crisis has engulfed the Rivers State House of Assembly amidst rumours of an impending impeachment procedure against Governor Siminalayi Fubara after the House removed its leader, Edison Ehie.
Reports said the governor stormed the Assembly complex while the lawmakers fled for safety as tear gas was fired outside the complex.
A protest immediately broke out outside the complex with supporters of the governors resisting his planned impeachment.
The development occurred hours after a fire broke out at the Assembly complex on Sunday night.

It was unclear if the fire was connected with the political imbroglio but speculations of a rift between Fubara and his predecessor Nyesom Wike who is now Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister have been circulating for some time now.
