Bandits invade Kaduna secondary school, abduct 10 students

Bandit, on Monday, invaded the Government Secondary School, Awon – a day secondary school in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State – and abducted no fewer than 10 students.

The Commissioner for Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the development through a statement on Tuesday. 

The Commissioner said the government received preliminary reports from security agencies regarding kidnap of the students. 

According to the preliminary reports, Aruwan said the exact location of the incident is yet to be ascertained.

He said detailed reports are being awaited to clarify whether the incident occurred within the school premises or elsewhere. 

“The Kaduna State Government has received preliminary reports from security agencies on the kidnapping of about 10 students in Kachia LGA.

“According to the preliminary reports, the students of Government Secondary School, Awon (a day secondary school) were kidnapped on Monday.

“The exact location of the incident is yet to be ascertained but detailed reports being awaited will clarify whether the incident occurred within the school premises or elsewhere,” Aruwan said.

The commissioner added that the State Government will issue a public statement accordingly when the reports are received.
