Bandits have reportedly attacked the General Hospital in Idon, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, whisking away two nurses who were on duty at the time.
The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, less than 48 hours after gunmen abducted students of the Greenfield University, killing a worker in the process.
The Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Mr. Cafra Caino, confirmed the incident.
He called on residents to remain calm as investigation has commenced into the incident.
Though authorities were yet to respond to the incident, the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Shingyu Shamnom, said the gunmen scaled the fence into the hospital.
Shamnom said the gunmen shot sporadically and whisked away the two nurses on night duty, when they came out and identified themselves as health workers.
He said: “We were in our homes until a call came to us that it was kidnappers who invaded the hospital, only to discover that two of the nurses on night duty had been taken away by the bandits.
“The kidnappers went away with the phone of one of the staff whom we thought was also kidnapped but he later returned.”
