Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court, Lagos has fixed May 24 for the arraignment of the Senator representing Anambra South, Ifeanyi Ubah, over an alleged N135 billion debt.
The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) had filed an eight-count charge against the lawmaker and his firm – Capital Oil and Gas Limited – for allegedly making false claims on the actual values of certain assets transferred to the agency under a consent judgment.
The agency claimed that Ubah lied in respect of the actual value of the assets he listed in the terms of settlement and offered partial payment of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited’s debts.
AMCON also told the court about its inability to personally serve Uba with the charge.
The judge fixed the date following an agreement between the prosecutor and the defence counsel.
He directed AMCON to either paste the eight-count charge filed against the lawmaker at his residence or serve him via the Clerk of the National Assembly.
