The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has expressed willingness to partner the Ondo State government to achieve industrial development of the State.
President of the Chamber, Mr. Kayode Adetokunbo, stated this on Tuesday, when he led the executive committee of the Chamber on a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, at the assembly complex in Akure.
He described Ondo as a peaceful State conducive for economic growth and development.
He commended the Speaker for providing good leadership and for ensuring peace and stability in the hallowed chambers.
He said the Speaker has further contributed to the development of the State.
Adetokunbo, who was a former Minister of Defence, commended the State legislature for supporting the executive arm for the progress of the State.
He said there could not be meaningful development without the peaceful and robust relationship between the Legislature and the Executive.
Adetokunbo assured of the readiness of the Chamber to work with the assembly to share ideas that would promote industrial development in the state and the country in general.
He said the visit was to showcase the State to the international community, and attract investors.
Adetokunbo stressed the need for active private sector involvement in the economic development of the State and the country.
“We are also using this opportunity to showcase to Ondo what we are doing at Abuja Chamber of Commerce; right now the emphasis of government is on industries, on commerce and economic development.
“We need the active involvement of the private sector.
“We need to begin to create jobs; we need to industrialise and Ondo is an Agric society.
“We have good land to grow things and engage in agricultural activities, Agric processing and agro-allied industries that is what we are doing in ACCI.
“We are ready to partner with the government of Ondo and the people of Ondo to further bring development to the state.
“It is our duty as a chamber to help not only Abuja but the whole country to develop,” he said.
The Speaker commended the committee for its contributions to the promotion of the economic and industrial development of the FCT and the country as a whole.
He said the activities of the Chamber have impacted positively on agriculture, technological invention, sectoral linkages and trade facilitation.
The Speaker said that the good effects of ACCI are evident in the sustainable growth and development being witnessed not only in the entire FCT but in different parts of the country.
“There is no gainsaying that ACCI is one of the renowned organisations with the capacity to cater and represent adequately well, the interest of the business community and provide higher management training for its development.
“All of these and many more give credence to the fact that chamber of commerce and industry is instrumental towards the provision of international business contacts and opportunities,” Oleyelogun said.
He assured the Chamber of the readiness of the Assembly to give constant support whenever necessary to industrial development in the State and the country as a whole.
