Abia judicial panel discovers uncompleted road projects, probes missing hospital assets

The Secretary-General of Isuikwuato Development Union, Akabueze Ndukwe, has attributed the deplorable conditions of Isuikwuato General Hospital to alleged disappearance of a 125KVA power generating set and some ‘unserviceable ‘ vehicles from the health facility.

Ndukwe, who was being cross-examined by the Counsel to Abia State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the Recovery of Government Properties and Funds, Enobong Okafor, on the auction sales of ‘unserviceable vehicles’ and the missing 125KVA Generator, said that he observed the missing items in 2020 and reported the matter to the stakeholders of Isuikwuato LGA.

He said the 125KVA Generator Set was in a good condition before it was removed from the premises of the Hospital, saying that the former administrative officer incharge of Isuikwuato LGA Mr. Chukwudi Ujah, and Hospital Management Board (HMB) can give account of the whereabouts of the missing items.

The judiciary panel also brought for hearing, the case filed by some sacked lecturers and staff of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba against the acting Rector, Mrs. Chidinma Ndukwe.

In a related development, the same panel visited some sites of road contracts awarded by former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, in his Obingwa Local Government Area.
